**Position Information**:
Bowral High School is a comprehensive, co-educational, virtual selective stream secondary school servicing a community that also supports several independent secondary schools. The school serves a slightly below average socio-economic status community with a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 109, the FOEI mean being 100.

The school caters to a diverse group of approximately 725 students from a range of socio-economic circumstances. Bowral High School is partnered with the NSW Department of Education’s Aurora College, a virtual selective stream within the school, catering for high potential and gifted students in years 7 - 10 from across the Southern Highlands region.

The special interests and needs of students are met through successful performing and creative arts programs, a wide range of sporting and student leadership opportunities, and a differentiated academic curriculum. The school uses the Positive Behaviour for Success (PBS) program to promote positive behaviour and the school's three core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Fairness, along with a dedicated Support Faculty offering five special needs classes, meeting the needs of students with a range of diverse learning disabilities.

Students are extended through highly successful enrichment programs in all key learning areas as well as a dedicated Academic/STEAM class in year 7 each year.

Bowral High School has strong links to its community and its partner primary schools. A rich and challenging academic program exists side by side with opportunities in vocational education that offer students individual pathways to work, University, TAFE, and a range of private colleges.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Proven skills, knowledge and capacity to lead the development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning programs that are compliant with NESA and DoE requirements across the school.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively gather and analyse both internal and external data to inform whole school teaching and learning practices with a focus on differentiation, quality teaching rounds and cyclical faculty reflection processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a dynamic member of the school’s executive leadership team and lead initiatives to address whole school strategic directions within the strategic improvement plan and nurture positive and productive relationships across the school community.
- Demonstrated ability at a whole school level to lead and deliver high impact professional learning to support the professional growth of all teachers and implement strategies that enhance the learning outcomes for all students.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
