**Position Information**:
Queanbeyan High School is located on Ngunnawal and Ngambri lands in the highly desirable location on the NSW ACT border, serving approximately 600 students with a student Aboriginal Population of 14% and 22% EaLD.

Our staff are dedicated professionals, committed to the delivery of learning programs designed to cater for the diverse range of student learning needs within our comprehensive setting including specialist learning and support, extension courses, accelerated progression, VET courses, and 8 Support classes.

Our school is integral to our local community and enjoys strong working relationships with a wide range of community organisations. We work together to develop confident, socially aware and involved young adults who can make significant contributions to the broader community.

The school has breadth of curriculum catering for the needs of all students leading to a variety of post school destinations. Graduates are highly successful gaining preferred options in universities, further training, and skilled employm_ent_. We self-fund an Aboriginal Learning Centre and enjoy strong and productive partnerships with a range of cultural and educational initiatives.

Our school community of “Respectful, Responsible, Learners” has been integral in providing input into the substantial refurbishment of the school and we now enjoy a large range of learning, sporting, cultural and landscaped outdoor learning spaces that demonstrate a genuine respect for learning and community-based activities.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval and demonstrated success in teaching English (7-12) with the capacity to teach Extension 1 and/ or 2 English Courses.

2. Demonstrated proven capcity to review current teaching proactice and embed innovative curriculum design in line with curriculum reforms.

3. Demonstrated ability to create a culture of high expectations to develop, lead and manage innovative initiaitves to extend and engage all English students to achieve their best.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
