Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) is responsible for advancing a learning healthcare system and facilitating a program of research to enable the future precision medicine agenda, as well as driving health and medical research, clinical innovation, and national and international translational research activities and opportunities.
ORI holds responsiblity for matching Queensland research capabilities - in hospitals, universities, research institutes and businesses - with partners, and translating research into improved health outcomes for patients. Office of Research and Innovation Branch leads the strategic direction of medical research, including ethics and governance for clinical trials, at all Queensland public hospitals. Overseeing the Australian Teletrial Program which is making clinical trials more accessible for patients in remote regions of Australia and also leading the Department of Health's international business development activities.

The role As manager you will manage the daily operations of the Research Strategy and Investment Team, including the management of team members, stakeholders, processes and operational activities. You will ensure proper corporate governance by contributing to the best possible alignment of human, financial and physical resources with agreed priorities and strategies to support transparent and robust decision making.
The successful personYou will have demonstrated the ability to provide strategic leadership, management and expert advice on research strategy and investment, in a complex, decentralised public health sector organisation. You will have demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage organisational change and to build effective and motivated teams in a large and complex organisation in order to achieve effective outcomes. Furthermore, you will have demonstrated highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, negotiation, consultation and communication skills.
