The opportunity and your impact

As our highly valued Director, Investment you will contribute to ensuring a bright future for Queensland, Australia and our global partners. You will do this with people who want you to grow and progress.

Reporting to the Global Investment Commissioner, you will have the opportunity to work across various priority sectors including energy, resources, agriculture, manufacturing, head office establishment, innovation and other sectors, and lead TIQ's international investment pipeline of projects through to measurable investment successes. You will also contribute to meeting TIQ's investment targets, work closely with the Global Investment Commissioner and the team on a range of international investment and reinvestment projects, and play an important role contributing to strategy and practical project implementation.

Based in Brisbane, here's what your role will involve:

Leadership and Management and Culture

  • Support the Global Investment Commissioner to lead and manage the GIA team, including providing direction across a diverse range of industry sectors and investment projects.
  • Strategically lead cross-sector investment initiatives aligned with the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy , leveraging global trends and sectoral insights to drive high-impact economic outcomes for Queensland.
  • Provide authentic leadership that positively influences, supports, builds and nurtures relationships.

Program Management (Investment Attraction)

  • Provide recommendations and monitor KPl's to support commercial investment outcomes and to effectively realise benefits from the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy
  • Engage with overseas investors to provide advice on current and proposed investment projects to achieve successful investment outcomes.
  • In conjunction with TIQ's international offices, contribute to overseas market analysis and advice on current and proposed target investors.

Stakeholder and Client Relationships

  • Establish and maintain effective communication strategies, protocols, stakeholder negotiation and liaison activities across cultures and with other private and public sector organisations.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments across government and industry, facilitating investment, removing barriers and fostering enduring partnerships that enable strategic project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated political acumen and strategic foresight, with the ability to provide authoritative advice and operate confidently in complex, high-stakes environments

  1. Proven ability to successfully lead high-performing, forward-focused teams, building capability and inspiring individuals and the team to achieve results in a client facing environment.

  2. Demonstrated strategic and operational leadership with expertise in business development, budget management, governance, risk mitigation and an ability to manage competing priorities, multiple clients and projects within a fast-paced environment.

  3. Experience working with international businesses, extensive knowledge of investment attraction and facilitation, and ideally detailed knowledge in one or more of the Queensland Government's key industry sectors.

  4. Thinks strategically, and brings sound commercial acumen, an understanding of global trends and the credibility and networks to contribute substantially to international investment activities.

  5. Excellent cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills, with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
