**The Role**
The APS6 Business Intelligence Officer in the Directorate of Force Structure - Army (DFS-A) supports complex business intelligence work within an integrated workforce. They contribute to the analysis of Army’s Force Structure to support the optimisation of force structure design and effective management of Army’s personnel and equipment resources. They are accountable for maintaining compliance with legislative frameworks and Defence policies, and must understand government decision-making processes. They will be required to respond to stakeholders’ needs through extensive liaison.
The APS6 Business Intelligence Officer will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of work outcomes. They will contribute to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development. The primary data sources to support their work are PMKeyS Personnel Establishment data and Force Element data sets in SAP Defence and Security solution (S4 HANA) as Defence introduces this system through the Enterprise Resource Planning transformation.
**About our Team**
The team at the Directorate of Force Structure - Army (DFS-A) is a dynamic, integrated and collaborative team that manages Army’s Organisational Fundamental Input to Capability (FIC). This encompasses the personnel, equipment, and disposition requirements of Army’s Force Structures.
Army Force Structure requirements are informed and evaluated by the DFS-A team to enable planning of current and future establishment changes. The DFS-A team exercises delegations on behalf of the Chief of Army to manage Army’s establishment. As ERP is introduced, DFS-A will also take on responsibility for Force Element management which is the central data node for the entire SAP Defence and Security solution. Effective business intelligence and analytics of the Force Element data controlled by DFS-A will be critical to supporting the Army Operating System.
- Utilise common analytics tools such as PowerBi, and be prepared to master SAP analytics tools and be an active member of the Army Data Analytics Network.
- Maintain a high level of accountability for the provision of accurate, timely and appropriate advice in relation to business intelligence activities; working individually or collaboratively to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Contribute to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development, providing advice on innovation and business improvement. 5. Design and implement methods to assess confidence of data quality impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
