**About Our Client and Role**
Our client, a Local Council in the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, requires a administration gun to deliver high quality and comprehensive support to the Asset Protections Team by issuing relevant permits.
Good customer service and communication skills is essential as they receive a high volume of customer queries.
**Role Description**:
- The Permits Officer supports the Asset Protection and Permits team by exercising personal judgement within agreed standards to respond to a service request relating to Local Laws and relevant Acts and Regulations in accordance with the agreed procedures.
- This position is responsible for working professionally with employees at all levels across Council and liaising with relevant external stakeholders, including Community, Residents, Councillor’s, Public Authorities, and Building Industry.
- Knowledge of the Local Government Act, Protection of Council Assets and Control of Building Sites Local Law 2011, Amenity Local Law, with some knowledge of Environmental Protection Act, Planning and Environment Act, Building Act, Road Management Act 2004 and Road Management (Works and Infrastructure) Regulations 2015 preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the role of permits officer, including public authority consents
- Ability to deal effectively with property owners, builders and developers in an assertive, resilient, but respectful manner seeking cooperation in complying with local laws, permits, consents and bond conditions.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally, and gain cooperation and assistance from internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Proven experience and skills with Microsoft suite.
- Local Government experience is strongly preferred.
**The Successful Applicant will have**:
- Relevant Degree or Certificate with experience in a similar role preferred
- Drivers Licence valid in Victoria
