**About the Role**

The **Protocol Officer**, provides timely, expert advice and support to the Governor, Governor’s spouse and Official Secretary in the planning and management of Vice Regal events. You will focus on the protocol requirements of calls by visiting dignitaries, ceremonial events and regional visits, to ensure the delivery of professional and high quality services that meet Vice Regal standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating the participation of the Governor and/or Governor’s spouse in non-Vice Regal events and functions.

- Has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Australian protocols and procedures especially insofar as they relate to the delivery of Vice Regal events and programs.
- Thrives on delivering consistently high quality, high volume outputs in a sustained, busy environment.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Coordinating arrangements for Vice Regal functions, including visits to regional NSW, to ensure the delivery of professional and high quality services and compliance with relevant protocols.
- Plan for and prepare briefs for national and NSW State significant days and events, as well as routine day-to-day engagements for the Governor and/or spouse’s program.
- Accompany the Governor at Vice Regal events and undertake diverse duties including acting as Master of Ceremonies, providing protocol services at Investiture ceremonies, maintaining protocol standards, providing advice on protocol matters, briefing the Vice Regal party prior to arrival at functions, coordinating timings and transport arrangements.
- Consult, liaise and negotiate on behalf of the Governor and/or Governor’s spouse with patronage and community organisations particularly when the Governor and/or spouse is hosting or attending a function for an organisation.
- Greet and brief guests who call on the Governor, including visiting Heads of State, Ambassadors, Consuls-General, Ministers, senior Defence Force Officers and representatives of various governmental and private organisations.
