About us
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the criminal justice system. The two Youth Justice Custodial Precincts in Victoria are managed by the department. Parkville Youth Justice Precinct is located in the inner northern Melbourne suburb of Parkville, and Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct is located approximately 100 kilometres north of Melbourne.
Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.

What does a CALD Program Coordinator do?
As the CALD Program Coordinator, you will lead a team of CALD Liaison Officers and oversee the day to day running of the CALD programs and activities. This includes planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the programs, the procurement of services, and overall service delivery of the CALD programs.
You will manage staff across both the Parkville and Malmsbury Youth Justice Precincts, being based at Parkville with regular travel to Malmsbury, and be required to participate in a weekly rotating standby/on-call roster.

What skills should a CALD Program Coordinator have?
- experience in, or understanding of, the current issues, trends and techniques relating to the development, implementation and operation of programs and strategies for young people in a custodial environment
- experience working with existing and emerging culturally, linguistically and faith diverse communities and understanding of the societal and cultural impacts on these communities
- experience supervising and leading a team, supporting staff to achieve their potential whilst maximising their contribution
- a full and current driver's licence.

A tertiary qualification in human services or related discipline is also desirable.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
