A SME education business looking for a Head of Finance on a contract basis.

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Finance/CFO for a SME education business based in the city. This will be an initial 8 month contract position reporting to the COO of the business.

This role will lead the finance function, managing the financial performance as well as provide strategic, operational and regulatory advice to the Executive team, the Board & CEO.
- Lead the finance function (1x Assistant Accountant & outsourced Accounting firm), overseeing all transnational accounting, financial planning and analysis, management reporting, tax, compliance, risk, treasury/capital management and statutory requirements for the business.
- Monitor the financial performance of the business, including the identification of commercial risks and opportunities, and the development of reports with clear, concise and transparent explanations of financial performance for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain financial models that support critical business decisions/assess the viability of new business opportunities.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Executive team ensuring that financial and accounting implications have been considered in the formulation of strategic business decisions.
- Provide financial advice and analysis to the Board and CEO on all strategic, operational and regulatory aspects of financial management for the organisation.
- Support the future growth of the business through robust corporate governance (including implementation of financial controls, policies and procedures), optimal capital structuring and capital raising.
- Lead the corporate planning cycle for the business.
- Manage working and growth capital requirements for the business, including the development of short and long term cash flow projections to actively manage solvency risk.
- Provide thoughtful leadership and influence Executive and Board level decisions.
- Determine an overall financial strategy which balances risk mitigation with a strong long term financial position for the organisation.

Your Skills & Experience
- Degree in Commerce, Business, Finance or related field ideally
- CA/CPA/CIMA qualification
- Experience in a Financial Controller capacity happy to be hands on in a small finance team
- Strong Management Reporting experience
- Experience managing capital management - cash-flow/funding ideal
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to the CEO, the board and investors.
