Key senior appointment to support growth in Energy Queensland's Retail business
- Develop Energy Queensland's annual Retail business plan

The Energy Queensland Group is 100% owned by Queenslanders. As a Government Owned Corporation, they deliver electricity across Queensland through their ‘poles and wires’ business Energex and Ergon Energy Network. Their retailer, Ergon Energy Retail sells this electricity to customers throughout regional Queensland. These essential service activities are also supported by a range of innovative products and services delivered through their Yurika and other market brands.

OnTalent is delighted to partner with Energy Queensland (EQL) to recruit the position of Principal Retail Strategy Advisor which reports to the General Manager Retail Opportunities and manages the development of EQL’s Retail business strategy, annual retail business plan and retail business growth initiatives to optimise Retail’s commercial and business interests.

Key accountabilities include:

- Support the GM Retail Opportunities to develop, document and manage EQL’s Retail business strategy to position the retail business to deliver value to its customers and shareholders
- Develop the annual Retail business plan to ensure delivery of Retail’s strategy and coordinate Retail’s input into the EQL business plan.
- Actively participate in project teams to initiate, develop and implement approved retail business growth opportunities
- Assist the Regulation team with relevant strategy input in the preparation and communication of written submissions, oral presentations and the preparation and submission of proposed regulatory or rule changes as required.
- Support GM Retail Opportunities to manage Retail’s key internal and external strategic relationships, with a view to identifying and exploring opportunities to develop partnerships to progress retail growth opportunities aligned with the Retail Strategy.
- Prepare documents, including undertaking complex analysis and critical thinking, to support the approval and achievement of EQL’s retail business strategies, including Board papers, business cases, strategy papers, Government briefings, presentations, financial and pricing models and corporate reports.

To be considered you will have a Bachelor Degree in business, law, management and/or equivalent relevant experience, in addition, a qualification or certification in project management or business administration would be desirable. You will have proven experience in the development of business strategy, business case development and a working awareness of energy retail regulation. You will also have a high level of experience in writing/authoring complex documents and supporting submissions, briefing notes, board papers or equivalent. An ability to work collaboratively across boundaries and break down silos, and high developed interpersonal, facilitation and stakeholder management skills are required. We are seeking a minimum of 7-10 years in a strategically aligned role and although this role doesn’t have direct reports at this stage, it is a highly accountable management role and will potentially build a team to support this function in the longer term.
