Opportunity to work with a public sector authority on exciting new sustainability projects.

**Your new company**
Our client is a public sector organisation based on the North Side of Brisbane. They are looking to engage a Principal Planner, Sustainability in order to provide expertise and lead the delivery of highly complex sustainability, environmental, climate change and carbon reduction projects.

**Your new role**
In your new role you will act as a technical expert and provide leadership and direction to team members in the delivery of sustainability planning and scientific services to drive integrated sustainability and climate change mitigation outcomes across the region and within the MBRC organisation. In addition, you will also be responsible for the following:

- Provide expert advice in environmental and sustainability planning matters in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
- Lead the delivery of highly complex environmental and sustainability planning projects and specialist project teams (including external consultants) to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
- Provide specialist technical expertise into the development, integration and implementation of key strategies and policy relating to sustainability, climate change, carbon emissions reduction and other significant major planning initiatives.
- Facilitate project-based community consultation including representing Council at a range of customer meetings, community and business forums.
- Build high level relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects and service deliverables are achieved.

**What you'll need to succeed**
In order to succeed you will ideally have the following:

- Substantial knowledge and experience in either environmental planning, sustainability, climate change, strategic planning and project management.
- Substantial experience in the delivery of highly complex environmental and sustainability planning projects, including leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary project-based teams.
- Substantial experience in project management and associated risk assessment and management practices.
- High level experience providing expert advice and recommendations on strategy and policy on sustainability, climate change, carbon emissions reduction and other significant planning matters
