**About the Role**

**This is a Fixed Term Position until 1 July 2026**

The Safe Local Roads and Streets Program - Data and Insights leads the delivery of data and insights for local government authorities in preparing safe local road and street network safety plans and projects. The role will also help develop systems that allow local government authorities create data and insights through a self-service function. The role requires specialised data and analytical skills as well as program management and delivery.

**Position Outcomes / Accountabilities**
- Road Safety Insights and Analysis - Has successfully translated existing risk data (AusRAP/ANRAM), road infrastructure attributes, movement and place classifications, speed data and other network data to generate insights for network safety plans.
- Data literacy
- Successfully identifies appropriate data sets linking these spatially using appropriate techniques to connect data sets across the transport portfolio providing leaders and business areas with clear strategic intervention options and investment pipeline.
- Communicate with impact
- Has successfully translated the data insights and analysis and visually display data sets into simplified key messages (mapping asset state in easy forms to grasp / data histograms 2D & 3D) using Power BI and other visualisation mediums.
- Critical thinking and problem solving - working independently, has demonstrated self-verification of data use and interpretation, identifying the most appropriate valid data sets. Has collaborated with the Network Safety Plan team and broader Departmental staff to solve complex data challenges.
- Stakeholder Management - The incumbent has built strong and trusting stakeholder relationships, to achieve successful outcomes in line with the Safe System philosophy, Transport Integration Act objectives, and Movement and Place. The position has successfully built relationships to influence and negotiate outcomes
- Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in related field
- Experience relevant to the capabilities of the role.
- Strong experience in management of data - analysis, reporting and communicating

**Desirable**
- Technical competency in spatial software (QGIS preferred, esri products, Power BI)
- Substantial stakeholder management experience within government - a sound grasp of how government works and how to access information across different government entities.
