Data Insights Consultant

**Overview**
As an integral part of our team you will help our clients identify and solve their problems through the use of data and analytics.
You are responsible for interpreting requirements from clients and business users and using these requirements to design and develop insightful analytics and reporting solutions as well as providing expertise and guidance to internal and external clients in large analytical projects.
This role works closely with the client services team to understand client objectives and with the development team to implement solutions. This is a highly varied role that will require a mix of data-related skills, particularly data manipulation, data analysis and data visualisation.
It will require a mix of creativity, attention to detail and a curiosity to find and communicate insights.
**Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities**
Strategic Focus
- Execute complex analytical tasks that provide actionable results to business users. This includes being responsible for task definition, deliverables and validation. It requires identifying, extracting, assessing and analysing data, along with the preparation of relevant outputs and solutions (e.g. reports, dashboards and customer segmentations)
- Proactively profile, analyse and interpret campaign data and results, and then use the discoveries to improve future solutions, analyses and recommendations
- Present ideas, results and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
- Work to truly understand the business of your clients; understand their strategic goals and key issues, and then proactively identify how their data and your product can help them achieve their objectives
- Prioritise business and information needs, challenging conventional operating models to improve business performance
- Consolidate, track and analyse complex operational performance data from multiple data sources
- Conduct research and benchmarking activities to inform improvement measures and define process improvement opportunities
- Keep up-to-date with latest trends and best practices in data analytics and data visualisation tools, such as Tableau and other BI tools
- Work collaboratively with our internal teams to deliver client requirements
- Collaborate and share knowledge with other members of the Empirics team to ensure we are always evolving our collective skills and staying on the cutting-edge
- Demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills

- Be a critical thinker with strong analytical skills to look at a problem from the client point of view
- An interest in proactive learning - We use various different technologies including SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Hadoop, Python, R. We want someone who is interested in diving in and learn new technologies
- An interest in owning & taking responsibility to make sure the clients get results
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels of the organisation and build strong relationship and trust with clients and internal stakeholders.
**Experience & Personal Attributes**
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with use of relational databases, SQL (or similar language) and data mining
- Experience communicating analytical results to clients and non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge of advanced statistical software packages, such as, Python, R, SPSS
- Understanding of predictive/analytical modelling techniques, theories, principle and practices
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or other data visualisation tools
- Tertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics, economics, physics, engineering, computer science or a related discipline
Desirable
- Knowledge of data modelling/data architecture, facts, dimensions, aggregates and hierarchies
- Technical aptitude for data science
- Experience in Azure
