The role provides strategic leadership to improve population health and wellbeing outcomes and to reduce health inequalities through evidence-informed prevention and earlier intervention activity. This position manages a population health team and is accountable for the management of population health functions across the East Region, including prevention and health promotion system capability building, place-based planning and implementation, local investment management, reporting processes, and the use of population health data, evidence and outcomes-based thinking. The core functions include the responsibility to support local governments in the region to meet the legislative requirements of municipal public health and wellbeing planning aligned with the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.

The role focuses on leading the delivery of agreed work plans, service monitoring, quality improvement, and a focus on innovative approaches to prevention and population health, in collaboration with funded organisations, local governments and other partners.

The role drives policy implementation through collaboration with Prevention and Population Health branch policy teams and provides local intelligence and feedback into statewide policy processes.
