**The Role**
Reporting to the Business Manager, the APS 5 Security Advisor and Risk Assurance Officer is responsible for ensuring unit security compliance in accordance with the Defence Security Principles Framework and associated directives and orders, working with external stakeholders (including base managers and AGSVA) to ensure security best practice is implemented, conduct of regular education and training activities for commonwealth and industry partners, and, governance over the corporate performance and risk to ensure effective unit operations.
The role is also responsible to oversee, coordinate and maintain JLU (SQ)'s Risk Management Plan and Lead technical reviews in identifying and driving performance improvement and culture change through effective risk management and assurance practices.
**About our Team**
The Environmental Management Team is comprised of a small group of professionals responsible for the management and coordination of Workplace Health and Safety, Facilities Management, Security and Unit Equipment Management activities required to support JLU (SQ) and reports directly to the Business Manager. The team supports each other to deliver high quality services, therefore this role requires a person who brings that same commitment, and is a positive and collaborative team member.
- Will have experience providing in-depth security advice on physical, digital and personal security matters. They will be independent, motivated, having high levels of integrity and attention to detail.
- Will be able to develop an understanding of the security threat environment to contextualise the nature and extent of security threats as they relate to specific Defence and defence industry stakeholders.
- Will be able to liaise with other support agencies in order to gain an appreciation of the changing threat environment.
- May lead a small team, delivering security risk advice and assurance within a region.
- Will deliver security risk management and protective security training to stakeholder security appointments.
