In the role of Project Officer, you will ensure a multi-modal approach in the development, implementation and evaluation of multi-modal (road, rail, sea and air) freight plans, strategies and policies to inform and influence policy, planning and investment decisions that support an integrated, resilient and safe multi-modal freight system for Queensland's economy and communities. You will be responsible for providing advice and support in assessing opportunities for multi-modal integration and fostering innovative solutions to existing and emerging supply chain issues.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Contribute towards the development, implementation and evaluation of freight strategies and policies in response to government priorities and direction that enhance the efficiency, development and integration of the multi-modal freight system in Queensland.
- Assist in the development of executive-level briefing notes, ministerials, reports, submissions, business cases and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards.
- Undertake multidisciplinary research and information gathering tasks using a variety of data sources and compare and analyse data to identify emerging freight and supply chain issues and trends.
- Support the freight team multi-modal freight and broader supply chain activities and/or projects that deliver on government priorities and departmental strategies, along with general project reporting and correspondence support to the Director (Freight) and across the Freight Unit as required.
- Assist in the development of high-level advice and/or briefings on freight supply chain issues and challenges, and emerging national, state and local government freight planning, policy and related initiatives.
- Liaise with key internal Transport and Main Roads' staff, local, state and federal government agencies and industry to ensure the planning, development and operation of the multi-modal freight system in Queensland reflects and supports emerging freight needs, industry productivity and economic development.
- Assist in the implementation of departmental freight programs and initiatives under the Queensland Freight Strategy and Queensland Freight Action Plan.
- Model quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

This position reports to the Manager but will work across teams within the Freight Unit.
