**Position Information**:
Botany Public School is located in South East Sydney with a student enrolment of 271 students, including 48% from language backgrounds other than English, with a welcoming, inclusive and forward thinking community.
There is a focus on differentiated quality literacy and numeracy programs that engage students to be future focused learners. Collaborative planning and decision making are valued by the dynamic staff and community who have high expectations for all students. Evidence based, meaningful and data driven teaching practices that will in turn, improve attendance, engagement and participation are embedded in teaching practice. Collaborative planning and post analysis of various data sources drive pedagogical rigor. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) project and other inter school programs will promote deep learning and transition through ongoing collaboration.
Families promote the wellbeing of their children and educators are equally committed to developing students who attain academically at an advanced level.
The school is well supported by a passionate Parent and Citizens Association (P&C) promoting a strong sense of community. The P&C makes significant contributions towards school programs and resources where parents are actively involved in various aspects of school life.

- Evidence of being an effective and collaborative leader who is at the forefront of managing the implementation of high quality, evidence-based pedagogy. The successful Principal will be able to maintain, support and enhance programs and systems currently supporting students to be successful at Botany Public School.
- Successful experience in leading, inspiring and building capacity of teachers to enhance a culture of high expectations for staff performance and student achievement.
- Ability to lead innovation, promote meaningful community participation and support the school’s ethos of inclusivity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to genuinely unify all stakeholders for the advancement of the school’s standing.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
