**Position Information**:
Casuarina School is a School for Specific Purposes (SSP), located in North Western Sydney. Casuarina School provides intensive educational and behavioural support for students. The curriculum is tailored to individual students with adjustments to teaching strategies that engage students ensuring they meet their potential.
The school runs a transition program and has a current enrolment of 49 students, with 30% coming from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island backgrounds and 2% with English as an additional language or dialect. Our staff is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities for every child while acknowledging the importance of parental choice and student voice. Our students are offered diverse learning opportunities, enabling them to build skills in problem solving, making decisions and self-advocacy.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience with Special Education.
- Demonstrated expertise and proven successful experience in supporting students with disability and complex behaviour.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to improve outcomes for students from diverse cultural backgrounds with disability and complex behaviour to inform the Strategic Improvement Plan and lead key school initiatives, with high expectations and impact.
- Collaborative and visible leadership with a demonstrated ability to identify and utilise the skills of staff and other stakeholders to cultivate a sense of belonging and positive whole school culture.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
