About us As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners. Purpose of the role Capability and Investment supports the ongoing delivery of business capability modelling and strategic investment planning to improve capability maturity, through providing support to capability owners and service leads to ensure the effective review of their capability and that investment support is provided to enhance the delivery of the department's organisational and operational capabilities. Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team, responsible for developing, delivering, and reviewing tools, templates, and other documentation, including the maintenance of content utilising Microsoft SharePoint by updating and processing documents to the site. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support ongoing maintenance and improvements to capability management and investment planning, ensuring organisational priorities are promoted and actions, feedback and improvements are captured and built into the system. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements - Experience in providing business services support in a dynamic environment. - Knowledge and experience in project methodologies and/or business capability management processes. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: - Assist in the design, development, and implementation of new reporting and review processes to support the implementation of the department's Capability and Investment process. - Maintain internal process management tools and quality assurance services, ensuring appropriate governance and controls are in place, and provide recommendation for continuous improvement. - Contribute to research and review of best practice in relation to the preparation and coordination of program documentation, briefings and reports, in accordance with departmental requirements. - Provide advice and guidance regarding the audit of project and capability frameworks that support the implementation of the outputs that the unit provides for the department. - Coordinate the dissemination of reviewed documentation and associated annual planning tools to effectively manage information and workflows, and ensure best practice and activities are delivered in a timely manner. - Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support change management practices in a consultative manner to enable improved delivery of products. - Provide support in progressing projects or surge capacity requirements, both independently, and as part of a team, to progress branch deliverables where applicable to assist business continuity. - Provide confidential high-level, administrative support including the coordination of conferences or workshops and ongoing product enhancements to support continuous improvement initiatives.
