The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Systems Hardening Section is responsible for overseeing and managing a large and complex program of work to remediate cyber security issues across the Department and Australian Border Force (ABF), towards the ACSC maturity model. The Section is also responsible for developing a sustainable framework that is embedded into systems development and systems sustainment processes to uplift and improve the Departments cyber security posture. The Section will work across all delivery Branches and Cyber Risk Services Branch within Technology & Major Capability Group.

**About the role**:
The Security Administration Specialist will be responsible for working with stakeholders to design and implement processes to operate, sustain and assure security controls implemented by the Systems Hardening Section. The role will work with stakeholders from across the Technology & Major Capability Group to ensure that technical security controls are supported by processes and integrated into business practices. The role will assess current business and technical practices across the Technology & Major Capability Group to identify opportunities where security can be enhanced in line with the Department’s target state.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Analyse and design business and technology processes and policies that strengthen the Department’s cybersecurity posture
- Engage with technology, business and cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure proposed processes can be sustained and support the operation of security controls implemented by the Systems Hardening Program
- Manages the execution of process improvements and implementation of process changes
- Support changes to required service, process, organisation, operating model and other aspects in addition to technology components
- Design and recommend processes to address issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- Mandatory_
- Extensive experience working on cybersecurity policies and processes within an organisation
- Extensive experience working within technology in Government.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity processes and policy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
- Ability to work independently within the context of the broader Systems Hardening Program.
- Preferred_
- Cybersecurity certifications (such as Security+, CASP+, CISSP, SCCP) are strongly desired
- Knowledge of the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s Information Security Manual and Essential Eight Maturity Model.
