The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Cyber Risk Services (CRS) Branch performs two core interrelated functions:

- Ensuring continuous maturity improvement against the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Information Security Manual (ISM) by acting as the second line of assurance, which involves risk oversight and compliance functions when managing the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all official information
- Network defence through detecting and responding to intentional and unintentional activities by both external and internal threat actors that could compromise the Department’s information and ICT assets.

The Identity Management and Access Control (IMAC) section manages the Department's identity and access control systems, including user and privileged accounts. The section provides an enterprise-wide identity and access management capability that enhances the security of the Departmental ICT environment. The section ensures the Department’s staff have access to appropriate information at all times and ensures all Departmental ICT resources are appropriately controlled and audited.

**About the role**:
The Team Leader role for Access Control Administration is responsible for the management, monitoring and reporting of the Identity Management and Access Control (IMAC) Support incident queues to ensure Operational Level Agreement is met. The Team Leader will act as an escalation point for all IMAC incidents related to the team, plan for resources for handling the team activities and provide mentoring to the staff on both technical and management processes. The Team Leader will also responsible for providing updates and reports to the Director of IMAC on regular and ad-hoc basis.

The successful applicant will have strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience in running a busy team with competing priorities. The applicant must have experience with frontline management processes, good analytical skills and experience in dealing with a diverse client base.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:
To be successful in this role you will possess:

- Extensive experience in the leadership role within the Operational Service Support area
- Experience in managing IT Staff
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, credibility and personal networks between the technology development function and business units
- A good understanding of working with the business to align IT solutions with business needs
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, consulting and coaching skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Understanding of Security Frameworks (NIST, ISM, PSPF)
- Understanding of ITIL practices.

**Specific Duties**:

- Staff Engagement & Coordination_
- Management and co-ordination of development resources working with IMAC team leads and Director
- Providing leadership to schedule staff in day-to-day activities including developing and support staff and building commitment within the team to shared goals
- Manage Performance Development Agreements (PDAs) and staff learning.
- Process Management_
- Creating, updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) designed to assist the team in the performance of their duties
- Ensuring team follow and adhere to SOPS when provisioning system access
- Undertaking reviews of work procedures and practices and identify opportunities for streamlining processes and optimising efficiency
- Developing new processes, updating existing processes and SOPs
- Providing ad-hoc reports using available tools including Windows PowerShell and VBA with an intermediate to advanced level of complexity
- An understanding of Identity Management
