**The role**

We’ve identified economic participation as one of the three pillars of our Reconciliation Action Plan, which focuses on our vision for a reconciled Australia where gaps between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australians are closed. This role in our brand-new Indigenous Business and Community banking team is a unique opportunity to be a dynamic force for good in communities across Australia. This team will deliver positive outcomes and tailored experiences for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers and businesses.

We’re looking for a highly experienced Associate Director. This pivotal role will be responsible for the growth and business development of the Indigenous and Community specialisation within their state, while maintaining a proactive risk culture and responsible reputation with the Indigenous community.

**About you**

An experienced commercial finance professional, you’re keen to open more opportunities for Indigenous businesses and communities. You know that spending the time to understand the fundamentals of a business, community development, or investment plan can reveal innovative solutions to funding challenges. You invest time wisely into developing meaningful, long-term relationships and are excited to see your customers achieve their objectives.

You’ll be NAB’s key Indigenous Business sector specialist for your state/territory, responding to opportunities to support the Economic Development of Registered Traditional Owners, Land Councils, Statutory Bodies and Individual Indigenous Business owners by partnering with NAB’s business and community bankers across Metro, Regional and Agri (R&A) and Small Business.

**In this role you’ll be responsible for**
- The growth (clients, revenue, and balance sheet) of the Indigenous Business and Community specialisation within the region.
- Support the connection of collective Indigenous community organisations and Indigenous businesses in your area.
- Collaborate closely with front line Bankers, Customer Lending Solutions, Fulfilment, Credit, and specialist Product teams to deliver for customers within your region.
- Being the face of Indigenous Business and Community for NAB, participating in industry and local government policy forums and advocating for the Indigenous Businesses and Community sector.
- Support the rollout of the Indigenous Business and Community Banker accreditation for B&PB bankers.

**You’ll bring**
- A demonstrated understanding of the cultural, political, and commercial landscape for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.
- Experience in translating high level customer strategic opportunities into deals through effective partnerships with customers and bankers across Australia.
- Strong commercial acumen to understand banking opportunities that are aligned with the bank’s and customer’s risk appetite.
- The ability to build a strong, diverse customer / deal team who can anticipate and meet Indigenous business and community needs.
- The ability to establish authentic relationship within your local Indigenous Business Chamber of Commerce and various community groups to develop business leads.
- Extensive experience within the financial services sector, including business, corporate, credit or specialised business.
- Demonstrated experience with the Indigenous business sector, or evidence of a deep understanding of this industry.
- A degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or Accounting, or demonstrated evidence of strong commercial acumen in a professional environment.
