**Position Overview**
Melbourne’s rail network is growing as part of Victoria’s Big Build, with MTM playing a key role as a delivery partner on the Level Crossing, Metro Tunnel and Melbourne Airport Rail programs. Supporting the strategy and analytical functions of Metro Trains Melbourne’s Network Strategy and Planning team, you will be required to understand the longer-term future for the Victorian rail network.
The Network Strategy team is responsible for the development and rolling update of MTM’s strategic network planning and underpinning technical positions, policies, and strategies. Working closely with internal and project stakeholders, you will support the rigorous and reliable planning of future services and operations that a key to the successful delivery of a world-class network.
This new role is offered on a
**Fulltime permanent position,** you will operate out of Metro Trains Head Office, Docklands.
**Key Responsibilities**
- The development and review of project concept of operations and requirements.
- Direct stakeholder engagements on network planning issues (collaborating with MTM internal stakeholders) and advising how to best approach the issues
- Working with project managers to develop requirements and be an effective advocate for MTM in requirements setting.
- Interrogate operational and patronage data to identify and understand key issues on the network and provide briefing to Project teams on key issues.
- Provide strategic advice to support projects in line with future network configuration states.
- Analyse data from various sources to assist the operational and planning areas of MTM and other stakeholders.
- Produce reports and/ conduct presentations as required to summarise assessment of proposed projects, policies, and timetable changes
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Tertiary qualification in: Transport Planning, Policy Development or equivalent is desirable.
- Undertaking complex analysis, reviewing, testing, interpreting, and drawing inferences from data and present results in a clear and comprehensible manner.
- Sound conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and understand important issues and provide comprehensive advice on complex issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and influence key stakeholders.
