The Population Health Analyst plays a key role in shaping population health analysis and the design of appropriate commissioned activities in the north western Melbourne region.

Drawing on your technical expertise and experience synthesising and presenting health quantitative and qualitative data insights, you will lead the sourcing, management and analysis of diverse population health-based data, health system performance indicators and general practice data.

Working effectively within the Research and Evaluation team, your analysis and insights will help support the development of evidence-informed and responsive commissioned primary health care service and improvement initiatives.

We are North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), Victoria's largest independent, locally governed, and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary healthcare in our community.

**What are Primary Health Networks?**

PHNs have been established with two key objectives:

- Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of primary health services for community members, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes.
- Improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time.

**A typical week may include**:

- Collating, identifying, analysing and preparing population-based and epidemiological data to inform regional population needs assessment, local priority setting, population health planning, service improvement initiatives and program/service evaluation.
- Prepare engaging, high-quality written reports, articles and oral presentations as required.
- Plan and lead data collection, collation and analysis for program/service evaluation and research, including the innovative use of GP practice-level data for population health planning and service improvement initiatives.
- Provide high-level advice on all matters related to population health analysis and reporting of health data, including the impact of government policy change.
- Communicate complex population health information persuasively to decision-makers, including NWMPHN staff, the Executive, Clinical Councils and Community Advisory Committees.

**We are looking for someone who has**:

- A Master's degree in public health or a related field, such as psychology, population health, epidemiology, health sciences, health economics, applied mathematics, or equivalent or an appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in quantitative data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to translate findings from large or complex datasets into engaging narratives, insights and recommendations.
- Excellent written skills and a track record of preparing high-quality and engaging reports for a range of purposes and audiences, using research and findings from quantitative and qualitative data analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesise and identify key insights and themes that can be communicated concisely through data summaries, presentations, workshops, and/or publications.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to contribute to the objectives and needs of the Population Health and Planning Team.

**Desirable**
- Demonstrated knowledge of the primary health system in Australia, including its interaction with the acute care sector, as well as the challenges and opportunities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with some qualitative experience in either data collection or analysis.
