ABOUT THE ROLE
As a trusted advisor to the CEO and member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Head of Strategic Policy & Insights plays a critical leadership role within Screen Australia. This role is responsible for driving the agency’s long-term strategic agenda, including high-level policy development, government engagement and the oversight of influential research and insights that inform sector-wide reform and decision-making.
You will lead a high-performing team to shape the agency’s strategic and policy direction, deliver high-quality research and analysis, and position Screen Australia as a proactive, future-focused thought leader in the evolving screen landscape. This is a rare opportunity to lead meaningful, sector-shaping work at the intersection of government, culture, data and screen industry innovation.
About you
**We’re seeking an influential and values-driven leader with**:
Proven experience in a senior executive or leadership role with a strong focus on strategic planning, public policy, research and/or data analysis—ideally within the creative, cultural or public sectors.
An understanding of the regulatory, economic and policy frameworks that shape Australia’s screen industry.
Demonstrated experience engaging with government stakeholders, influencing public policy outcomes, and representing organisations at senior levels.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex ideas into clear, evidence-based advice.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive submissions, reports and strategic documents.
A collaborative leadership style and the ability to inspire high performance in others, with a commitment to equity, innovation and public value.
