The organisation is seeking a hands-on Head of Data & Analytics to lead a growing team and transform the data environment into a strategic, commercially-focused powerhouse.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will manage a small but high-impact team and oversee a recently restructured data function. They will simplify an over-engineered tech stack, implement governance, and guide greenfield projects from data ingestion and pipelines through architecture, analytics, AI, and commercial solutions. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders to translate business needs into impactful data solutions while ensuring the team has the tools, strategy, and guidance to succeed.

Key Responsibilities for the
Head of Data & Analytics ( Azure / SQL / Databricks )
includes :

  • Lead a small team comprising a Data Engineer, Data Scientist and Data Governance Analyst, providing mentorship across AI, ML, and advanced analytics.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Simplify and optimise the existing tech stack, including Azure, Databricks, Python, Git, and data pipelines.
  • Lead the design and deployment of advanced analytics, ML, and AI solutions that drive commercial impact.
  • Establish governance frameworks for data quality, metadata management, and a single source of truth.
  • Oversee development of dashboards, reports, and automated pipelines to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team and promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and commercial impact.

Required experience for the
Head of Data & Analytics ( Azure / SQL / Databricks )
includes :

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in advanced analytics, statistical modelling, or ML/AI, with at least 3 years in leadership roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Databricks, Azure, SQL, Git/GitHub, and cloud data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Experience in leading business intelligence initiatives, data governance, and automated pipelines.
  • Strong communicator, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • STEM-related advanced degree (MA/MSc/PhD) preferred.
