About the role
New South Wales’ peak environment group is seeking an experienced and driven Communications and Fundraising Manager to grow our organisation, so we can achieve our mission to protect nature in NSW and create the conditions it needs to thrive. This is an amazing opportunity for purposeful work that will have a real impact on the nature and wildlife of New South Wales.
This key role will be responsible for rapid and strategic growth and development of our communications and fundraising program. To successfully build a more diverse and secure funding base you will be motivated to;
- oversee external communications across the organisation ensuring a consistent voice
- develop and lead a high performing fundraising and comms team
- work with campaigns and organising teams to develop content that wins campaign outcomes
- research opportunities and evaluate our fundraising activities
- provide regular progress reports and annual strategic advice to the executive committees on fundraising progress and supporter growth
- prepare and deliver major donor proposals in conjunction with the CEO
- meet and exceed annual fundraising targets

ABOUT THE POSITION
You will lead the communications and fundraising team ensuring they work closely with our campaigns team to build and grow our supporter base and meet fundraising targets.
Key objectives:
Provide effective leadership:
- lead, develop and support the comms and fundraising team, ensuring strategic plans guide their work and that communications and fundraising activities are integrated across the organisation.
- develop robust stewardship models and compelling journeys for our supporters.
- oversee external communications with a view to how NCC is represented publicly.
- advise CEO and board on fundraising priorities, targets, investment and income requirements and ensure management is alerted to issues that may affect the performance of the program.
- contribute to organisational activities and planning as required.
Deliver an efficient and effective fundraising and external communications program:
- build a diverse and secure funding base that delivers fundraising income targets and increases fundraising gross and net income returns year on year.
- analyse, evaluate, report on and improve fundraising strategies and activities.
- develop and deliver effective strategies for the recruitment, cultivation, retention and growth of individuals, regular givers, bequestors and high net worth supporters.
- work with relevant staff to enhance the fundraising potential of events and programs.
- develop data analytics to assist us to improve retention and limit attrition and decline rates, ensuring they compare favourably with industry averages.
Oversee and manage external communications and public brand
- ensure that our brand, key messages, approval and privacy policies are applied to all communications activities and that we comply with regulatory and privacy requirements.
- oversee external communications outputs to ensure consistency and an ‘NCC Voice’.
- build the NCC brand, NCC awareness and promote appropriate brand associations.
Build and create productive relationships and broaden NCC’s appeal:
- source and negotiate relationships with agencies, contractors, and other third-party service providers as needed.
- represent NCC at events and major donor meetings as needed.
- contact donors personally, building effective long-term relationships and soliciting financial support for NCC’s campaigns.
- coordinate with and support key staff to manage and maintain personal relationships and effective donor care with individuals, major donors, trusts and foundations.
You may be required to perform other duties as directed from time to time to suit organisational requirements and which are broadly consistent with your role.
