Social Media Officer

As a Social Media Officer, you will have responsibility for supporting the management and growth of Department's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube channels.
Social media channels are a vital way to communicate important information to Australians.
You will assist in the development and champion the social media strategy, ensuring content is effective and engaging and delivers accurate information to Australians.
You will work as part of a team of professionals to plan and develop content, publish and manage channels, moderate comments and users, and develop reports to evaluate and make recommendations for growth and improvements.
To be successful in this role you will possess strong communication strategy and social media skills. You will also be able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders. You will exercise sound judgement and have a high degree of initiative.
The Social Media Officer requires strong communication and social media experience, preferably in a government environment, along with tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the department's social media strategy and social media content strategy.
- Write, design, implement and evaluate social media content and campaigns.
- Deliver useful and informative reports on social media trends and content performance.
- Support the social media manager to provide advice and recommendations on social media opportunities and issues to Executive.
- manage day to day social media tasks in collaboration with other social media team members.
- Work effectively with stakeholders to negotiate and achieve our goals and successful communication outcomes.
- Assist in the management and the use of specialist service providers, including for social media platform management, Auslan Interpreting and captioning.
- Work flexibly in a small team to strategically manage issues and peaks and troughs in workload.
- Maintain awareness of the immediate and longer‐term strategic, political and operational issues for the organisation.

- Experience working as a communication officer.
- A client service focus with the ability to influence and drive initiatives at both an operational and executive level.
- Sound judgment and an ability to work under pressure.
- An ability to form strong and productive working relationships.
- Be able to work as part of a small team, as well as across various project teams.
- Ability to learn new IT systems quickly and efficiently.
- Demonstrated personal drive and integrity while achieving results.
- Ability to strategically manage and prioritise competing issues and activities and identify suitable opportunities and events to align with program delivery milestones.
