**The Role**
As a Security Vetting Analyst working within the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA), you will conduct personnel security vetting functions to determine a person’s suitability to be granted an Australian Government security clearance.

You will be responsible for:

- Collecting and assessing sensitive information about security clearance applicants using telephone, video and/or in-person interviews with referees and/or applicants.
- Assessing and analysing information according to the Attorney-General’s Department’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other legislation and internal policies and procedures.
- Writing reports using evidence-based analysis, professional structured judgment methodology and risk management principles.

**About our Team**
AGSVA is located in the Defence Security Division within the Department of Defence and is the central vetting agency for the Australian Government. AGSVA conducts security clearance assessments for over 800 federal, state and territory agencies and industry partners and manages approximately 360,000 active security clearances. AGSVA operates out of seven cities across Australia (Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Darwin).

AGSVA is a highly skilled and professional organisation dedicated to the provision of security-assured clearances. This work is a critical business enabler for the Australian Government and for Australia’s national and economic security, allowing Government to deliver capabilities and services.

You will be part of a proactive and dynamic AGSVA Vetting Operations team that is trusted and proven, contributing to a positive service delivery culture. You will also be given opportunities to work in other parts of AGSVA, such as on vetting policy and procedures and complex cases.

We are looking for high-performing and highly-motivated people who:

- Follow and interpret policy, procedures and legislative frameworks.
- Are comfortable with managing a caseload of multiple cases and/or decisions at the same time and working within quality and time benchmarks to complete them.
- Adapt to changing priorities by being flexible and agile.
- Have sound judgment and are aware of their own biases.
- Possess integrity and professionalism and are personable, non-judgmental and collaborative.
- Are comfortable identifying, accepting and managing risk to make security-assured case recommendations and/or decisions.
- Have excellent knowledge of Australian and international current affairs and awareness of security threats and risks affecting Australia’s national security.

You will be highly organised, have excellent attention to detail but also able to see the big picture, and be a highly skilled communicator, both written and verbal.

You will produce high quality vetting products and outcomes in a fast paced environment with competing priorities. You will be comfortable working with information gaps and discrepancies and can think laterally and recognise when you have enough information to complete a case recommendation or to make a decision to grant a security clearance.
