**The Role**
The Researcher will be proactive in assessing the latest published techniques in the field of weapons guidance and control, and ensure their research is relevant and high in quality.
The Researcher will be working closely with university and industry partners to exchange ideas, learn new skills and solve complex problems more efficiently.
The Researcher will be contributing to the STEM outreach activities and committed to supervising university students with their honour projects and placement within DSTG.
The Researcher may require working in a classified environment.
**About our Team**
Sensors and Effectors Division (SED), as part of DST Group, applies science and technology to the capability analysis, development and operation of Weapon and Combat Systems relevant to the ADF. Areas of focus include weapon guidance technologies, assessment of both weapons and combat systems, tactical information exchange, physical force protection and national security to provide Defence with the ability to meet key drivers in the weapon and combat systems domain. The Weapon Systems Technologies branch conducts scientific research and matures weapons technologies that enable ADF combat capability for precise prosecution of threats and assured delivery of effects. Our S&T capability includes:
- Sensing and perception with a focus on targeting in complex and contested environments;
- Trusted autonomous decision making under uncertainty for the effective delivery of effectors to neutralize threats with precision and low collateral damage; and
- Directed Energy as a potential disruptive battlefield capability.
