Our client a Government Department are seeking a Procurement Officer to join their busy team on a temporary basis.

Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging career in the public sector? Do you have a passion for sourcing and negotiating with suppliers for goods and services that support the delivery of public services and programs? If so, you may be the procurement officer we are looking for.

**Your new role**

As a procurement officer, you will be part of a team that manages the procurement process for a range of public sector clients. You will be responsible for:

- Conducting market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and opportunities for savings
- Preparing and issuing tender documents, requests for quotations, and contracts
- Evaluating bids and proposals and recommending the best value for money solutions
- Managing supplier relationships and performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and ethical standards
- Reporting on procurement activities and outcomes, providing advice and guidance to stakeholders on procurement best practices

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A degree in business, commerce, supply chain management or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least two years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in the public sector
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems, with knowledge of relevant procurement legislation and policies
