The Strategy Manager reports to the Head of Group Strategy and is responsible for enabling and influencing strategy determination across Iress, bringing both an outside-in perspective (through industry, market and competitor analysis) and an inside-out perspective (business performance, strategic risk management, portfolio and operating model analysis). This role is critical to driving a data driven approach to strategy determination and the achievement of Iress' strategic goals.
The Strategy Manager will work alongside Iress' group and business unit leadership teams by leading cross-business unit or cross-functional strategic initiatives, and will ensure this is aligned to the transformation program.
**Some of the awesome things you'll be involved with**:
- Drive strategy through an outside-in perspective - researching and bringing in market analysis, trends, insights, and competitor analysis
- Lead cross-business unit or cross-functional strategic initiatives, conducting analysis, providing insights and recommending strategic options
- Deliver thought leadership initiatives, including as a spokesperson where required, in collaboration with the innovations and communications/ marketing functions
- Identify growth opportunities, customer insights, benchmarks and market insights to Business Units and cross-functional teams
- Work with external data providers / researchers to supplement internally sourced industry data
- Advocate and communicate Iress's strategy to internal and external audiences
- Support the analysis of M&A opportunities
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to inform strategy
- Contribute to the preparation of strategy related reports, papers and presentations for the Iress Leadership Team, Board, Investor Materials
- Improve Iress' risk culture through the management and reporting of Strategic Risk as a material risk class.
- Integrate processes for strategic planning, transformation, financial planning.
**What you will bring**:
- Minimum 4 years experience in a strategy function in a management consulting firm or in-house strategy team
- Deep knowledge of financial services, particularly the wealth management, trading and superannuation markets
- Experience in setting / driving strategy for technology businesses
- Proven track record for developing financial models to support the evaluation of strategic business opportunities
- Proficiency in independently conducting data analysis and translating findings into relevant insights for diverse audiences, and across revenue, efficiency and operating model areas
- Proven ability to identify trends in target markets and segments and align to strategy and prioritisation
- Demonstrable experience in defining and executing strategies to enable and accelerate business goals, with first-class commercial and financial acumen
- Experience influencing internally and externally. Hands-on experience in building and maintaining strategic relationships with third party vendors and partners
- Impeccable communicator and presenter (written and verbal) who concisely delivers messages with clarity and integrity both internally and externally
- Highly motivated, driven, modest, low-ego professional with a strong personal and professional ethic and a sense of urgency
- Adopt a typical hypothesis-driven project approach (e.g. scope, hypothesis, fact base and analysis, decision recommendation, implementation plan).
