Head of Department Learning Enhancement, 1 Year

The College is seeking to appoint an experienced educator to undertake the Head of Department (Learning Enhancement) role, joining our Secondary School Leadership Team from Term 1 of the 2025 Academic Year while the structure of the Learning Enhancement Department is reviewed, and to lead and support the Learning Enhancement Team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a variety of support programs for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in Secondary School Years. These programs aim to provide students with a wide range of opportunities to achieve their academic potential. This position will be able to focus on both literacy and numeracy.
The Head of Department will lead a dynamic team of passionate teachers and oversee the development, management, and regular review of an exciting, future-focused Secondary School curriculum. As a leader within the College, the Head of Department will collaborate with peers and the College’s Senior Leadership Team to support the College’s vision and future direction.
**The load distribution for this 1.0 FTE position is 0.4 FTE for Head of Department duties and 0.6 FTE Teaching.**
**This is a one-year, maximum-term contract from Term 1 2025 in an Acting capacity. Applications close Monday 9th December 2024.**

**The successful applicants will have**:
- A Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education
- Current TRBWA Membership including a Working with Children card (WWC)
- Qualifications in teaching students with learning difficulties or special needs would be highly regarded.

**The following essential criteria must be addressed with evidence in the cover letter document**:
- Demonstrated excellence in case management, cross-curriculum support and small group teaching of students with learning disabilities and ‘academically at risk’ students is essential for this position.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner as a member of a team.
- Experience in individual curriculum planning and adjustments for students
- Experience in assisting classroom teachers with curriculum modification and providing team teaching support.
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching strategies
