**About the role**
Maxima's client, Logan City Council, is looking for a Workers Compensation Claims Officer for immediate start.

In this position you will administer the workers’ compensation claims process for work-related injuries between Council and Local Government Workcare (LGW).

**Duties**:

- Administer the workers compensation claims processes for Council in conjunction with the insurer, including:

- Process and submit claims forms on behalf of workers in accordance with Council process
- Maintain records for workers compensation claims
- Provide details to the insurer in relation to information and evidence that can contribute to a decision about a claim
- Build and maintain relationships with the insurer including regular claims management reviews
- Maintain regular communication with workers and management about claims status
- Be the key point of contact between the workers compensation insurance provider and Council
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of workers compensation procedures
- Liaise with other members of the Health and Safety Program to identify opportunities to improve health and safety outcomes as appropriate
- Maintain statistics relating to workers compensation claims including costs associated with claims.
- Maintain case notes and suitable duties plans that are factual, up-to-date, comprehensive and free of opinions or irrelevant matters
- Negotiate with injured/ill workers, managers, supervisors, medical and allied health providers where required to initiate suitable duties programs.
- The incumbent may be required at times to support stay at work and return to work processes for work and non-work related illness/injury to establish effective and efficient return to their substantive role.

**Applicants must have**:

- Cert IV in Health and Safety or demonstrated work experience in relation to workers’ compensation and return to work.
- Experience in a self-insurance environment will be favorably considered.
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including the ability to:

- Negotiate, advocate, engage and present information clearly;
- Remain impartial and communicate with influence on sensitive/complex matters at an individual employee, team and management level;
- Maintain strict confidentiality of workers compensation documentation; and
- Deliver effective, concise, integrated and credible options for workers compensation related issues.
