**The Opportunity**
It is a very exciting time at The Kids Research Institute Australia as we continue to evolve from what began in the 1980’s as a vision to create a world-class child health research hub. We have recently changed our name from the Telethon Kids Institute, but we continue to achieve our vision of happy, healthy kids
Here at The Kids, we have a passion to see our researchers and their collaboration partners succeed, achieve research excellence, and translate their discoveries into real-world innovation and impact. In particular, the Strep A & ARF Therapeutics research team plan to accelerate research using animal and human clinical trials to improve long-acting penicillin formulation and treatment methods. Our team is driven to provide choice through alternate treatment regimens for those living with acute rheumatic fever/rheumatic heart disease and also the increasing Australian syphilis epidemic.
The team now have an opportunity for a Research Officer, with demonstrated experience in animal studies, to coordinate, analyse and deliver the research findings on novel reformulations of long-acting penicillin.
**About You**
If you are passionate about making a difference, join us in our mission to develop better Strep A therapeutics and improve the health, development and lives of children and young people impacted by Strep A. To be successful in this role you will need to have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in science (or similar field) with a number of years work experience with animal studies (or human clinical trials) and an interest in drug reformulation.
The key to your success will be your ability to **showcase the following**:
- Demonstrated experience in animal studies (and/or human clinical trials) and experience in the development of study design.
- Current ComPass certificate required and PAWES certificate (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills including evidence of academic writing.
- Demonstrate excellent team working skills as well as ability to work using own initiative.
- Strong computer, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Conveniently co-located at Perth Children’s Hospital, this position will be offered on a full-time basis 1 FTE for 1 year, with the possibility of an extension.
