**The Opportunity**

Our Translational Genetics Team focuses on providing molecular analysis of genetic variants (gene mutations), to better inform the early and accurate diagnosis of children living with genetic and rare diseases. The team applies functional genomics to interpret patient genetic variants in relevant disease modelling systems.

Some of your responsibilities will include;
- Perform CRISPR on various cell types of interest for mutations or correction to wildtype of genes of interest.
- Contribute to design of experiments for testing differentiation pathways of interest in cell lines with CRISPR induced mutations.
- Flow cytometry including antibody staining and preparation of cells for sorting.
- Generate and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Mentor and propose research projects for students.

Based at our modern offices at Perth’s Children’s Hospital, this position will be offered on a full-time basis for 2 years.

**About You**

These positions require an undergraduate degree and/or a PhD in Cell Biology, Genetics or related discipline and/or proven experience in the field.

The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following:

- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience in molecular biology/ cell biology.
- Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set goals, develop priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies.
- Experience in scientific paper preparation and grant writing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and a demanding schedule.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
