Corporate Services | Main Administration Building, 25 Cedric Street
- Closing date: 24/05/2025
**The Landscape**
Since our new Chief People Officer joined late last year, the HR team has been on an exciting adventure. We have embarked on a rebuilding phase - starting with embedding the core foundations that will design the pathway forward for us to enable the business to achieve its community, people and strategic outcomes. We have redesigned the way we work, bringing a new focussed approach in getting things done in an agile way, setting us up for success with many exciting projects on the go. We know when we implement a new way of working it is a learning journey for all, but we have done this collectively, having much fun along the way.
Human Resources sits within the Corporate Service Directorate, a directorate responsible for many of the key functions typical of this type of Directorate. Though what is special is we have a CEO and Director Corporate Services that genuinely put people first (and this isn’t just words). Their advocacy supports the function in being able to deliver its people experience strategy at the City.
**The Opportunity**
The Service Lead People Business Partnering role is a critical link in the overall HR team. You will lead an overall team of eight - People Business Partners & Support Officers in the delivery of a wide range of people strategies and solutions. This includes developing and providing a comprehensive professional human resources service to all directorates in line with the City’s strategic objectives, particularly in relation to recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, employee relations and remuneration. You will report into the Chief People Officer and be an integral part of the HR leadership team.
More specifically some of the key responsibilities include:
- Understand organisational challenges and prioritise People Business Partnering programs with the Chief People Officer and Directors.
- Provide strategic HR advisory services to management and employees.
- Offer specialist advice on Awards, Employment Agreements, and legislation.
- Lead ER/IR technical expertise on workforce matters, employment agreement negotiations and represent the City in complex cases.
- Support remuneration practices and oversee the REM annual process
- Be involved in budget development including the development of the annual HR Business Unit Plan and preparing business cases for HR initiatives, and performance monitoring.
- Participate in negotiating Service Level Agreements and setting KPIs.
**About You**
- Demonstrated ability and extensive experience to build organisational skills and responsiveness; positively steer and implement change; establish clear direction; and plan for initiatives that deliver intended outcomes within scope budget and timeframes
- Ability to build internal and external relationships with a range of individuals and facilitate cooperation; guide, coach and develop team members in a Business Partner Model.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, together with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex matters
- Highly developed negotiation, conciliation, mediation and advocacy skills.
- High level of problem solving, conceptual and analytical skills.
- Exemplary leadership skills that inspire, influence and provide clear direction
