**THE ROLE**

Origin’s Future Energy & Technology team is tasked with developing new technologies, products, experiences, and business models to create value for our customers and our business. Setting the strategic direction for Origin and linking this strategy to underlying performance across the organisation.

An exciting opportunity to join the team as the ‘Commercial Development Manager’, is now available. You will work closely with other areas within the organisation to ensure our business development priorities in future energy technologies are aligned and driving towards longer term sustainable growth for Origin. Playing an important role in evaluating, advising and managing investments for the business. In addition to this, the role will also work to connect and embed these investments into Origin’s strategy and operations as the technologies evolve.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assessment and recommendations on the likely commerciality of the technology investment opportunities against Origin’s strategy, including completing technical evaluation utilising external consultants as required.
- Execution of business trials in conjunction with relevant partners within Origin
- Connecting to teams within Origin directly impacted by our future energy technology investments, ensuring the pathway and business structure is in place to optimise adoption of technology.
- Preparation of presentations and analysis to communicate investment opportunities, including recommendations which are distributed to the Executive and the Board.
- Leading the negotiating of commercial terms and conditions for equity investments in technology companies and liaising with external lawyers to complete commercial documentation.

**ABOUT YOU**

Our ideal applicant will come with prior experience in supporting the business in a commercial, finance or analytics role with a proven ability to translate outcomes of detailed data and financial modelling into meaningful insights and analysis. You will possess an aptitude to grow your knowledge base, a highly analytical mindset and a strong commercial acumen. You will also have proven experience in managing multiple priorities in a high-performance environment.

**To be considered for the role you will also have**:

- At least 5+ years’ experience in energy markets, with knowledge of batteries beneficial.
- Prior experience in commercial, financial or economic modelling and preparation of associated collateral.
- Leading communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strategy development and execution in a large organisation
- Highly developed Legal / Contract literacy
- Ability to operate in an ambiguous and uncertain environment
- Project management skills are desirable
