**Position Information**:
Ryde Secondary College (Years 7-12) has an enrolment of 1437 students, including 70% students from an EAL/D background. It is a comprehensive high school with an academically selective cohort, an additional class for gifted and talented students, regular classes in each cohort and a support unit. The college has a strong focus on quality teaching, differentiated learning, Cultures of Thinking, collaborative teacher professional learning, student voice, social justice programs and a creative and positive learning environment. The college has extensive whole school, extracurricular, sporting and community partnership programs. These include debating and public speaking.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria;
1. Approval and demonstrated ability to teach English 7-10 and HSC English including Extension 1 & 2

2.Demonstrated capacity to lead a faculty and deliver a high quality, evidence-based, inclusive curriculum that fosters a culture of high expectations for learners

3.Proven capacity to work collaboratively with the Executive team to implement college strategic directions and lead whole school literacy

4. Demonstrated educational leadership in the achievement of successful outcomes for high performing students

5.Demonstrated ability to lead the English faculty team in the implementation of the new 7-10 English syllabus, including developing quality teaching and learning programs and assessment practices

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
