**Position Information**:
Cabramatta High School is a comprehensive, coeducational high school located in South West Sydney. The school has a total student population of over 1500 students, and includes an Intensive English Centre and Support Unit. 96% of students are from a language background other than English, with fifty-five cultural groups represented in the school. The school has a strong focus on academic excellence, collaborative practice, holistic education, wellbeing programs, innovative professional learning and community partnerships. The school has a collegial staff culture, and the executive team collectively leads whole school projects. The school and its community have a strong culture of high expectations in all learning areas.
The Intensive English Centre has an enrolment of over 180 students including international, temporary resident, migrant and refugee students. The Intensive English Centre is led by the deputy principal and head teacher, with over thirty teaching and non-teaching staff. Teaching and learning is informed by the Intensive English Program Curriculum Framework and NSW KLA syllabus documents with a focus on the development of English language skills. The Intensive English Centre has well-established links and integrated programs with the high school.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated ability to collaboratively lead a large, complex Intensive English Centre with high level communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated understanding of and the ability to cater for the needs of diverse students and families, and the leadership skills required to nurture a learning environment where students thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
High level instructional leadership with the capacity to lead staff to plan, develop and deliver a diverse curriculum for newly arrived students.
Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute to a dynamic executive team and operate at whole school level to implement the vision for the school as articulated in the strategic improvement plan.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
