Normanhurst Boys High School is an academically selective school of 750 students, with around 87% from language backgrounds other than English. It includes three autism support classes and has a strong wellbeing program where students are known, valued, and cared for. Student wellbeing and success underpin all decision-making. Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, must willing to teach Year 11-12 English, Extension 1 and Extension 2.
- Demonstrated high-level educational leadership skills with the capacity to establish, lead and manage a diverse English faculty, cultivating a collaborative and high performing team environment to drive excellence in teaching and learning
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of innovative, high-quality teaching and learning programs with a thorough understanding of the new English syllabus requirements and the ability to implement them effectively to address the specific needs of High Potential Gifted students
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership as an effective member of the executive team, with the capacity to lead evidence-based initiatives that drive whole-school continuous improvement, including explicit teaching and literacy instruction in a High Potential and Gifted Education setting
- A highly visible and approachable leader who demonstrates ability to lead the English faculty in the analysis of data to implement pedagogical practices fostering a shared vision of excellence that enhances student learning.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
