Auburn Girls High School is a partially academically selective and comprehensive high school with an enrolment of 850 girls, 98% of whom have a language background other than English. The school has increasingly achieved outstanding HSC and NAPLAN results. This is due to a strong commitment to building collective teacher efficacy and utilising evidence-based practices to target areas, including literacy, numeracy, and HPGE. Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic member of the executive team and lead evidence-based initiatives to support school targets, including explicit teaching, literacy instruction and High Potential and Gifted Education.
A highly visible and approachable leader who demonstrates exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to establish, build and sustain positive and productive relationships within an English faculty, across the school and in the wider community.
Demonstrated ability to lead the development, implementation and review of rigorous, evidence-informed faculty systems, particularly in programming, assessment, feedback and reporting that drive student achievement.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
