Sustainability Project Officer

- $87K to $95K per annum + Superannuation

**About the role**

As a key member of the Climate Emergency and Environment team, the Sustainability Project Officer is responsible for coordinating Council's sustainability reporting, and for the development, planning and delivery of projects which support Council to achieve our goals of rapidly reducing Council and community emissions and strengthening our resilience to the growing impacts of climate change.

Other responsibilities include:

- Develop and deliver a range of projects, such as developing systems and processes that reduce emissions from Council operations, creating communication materials for Council staff, researching developments in the sustainability sector or implementing practical programs which support the community to reduce emissions.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, to support Council and the Glen Eira community to adapt to the impacts of climate change and reduce our environmental impact
- Support staff and business units across Council to adopt a climate lens and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Council operations.

**About you**

You will possess knowledge in one or more of the key strategic issues of climate change, water use, biodiversity or recycling and waste, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a rapport with diverse stakeholders and maintain cooperative relationships.

The following is also required:

- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, project management or related discipline with relevant experience, or less formal qualifications with substantial experience
- Strong research, report writing, and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing projects
- Proficiency in MS Office packages, with strong skills in Excel
