**About the role**

The Principal Designer is responsible for providing engineering expertise in the design, equipment selection, and day-to-day management of each task.

In this position you’ll:

- Be involved in the design and engineering of MRL’s many greenfields and brownfields projects.
- Be involved from early design through to detailed design execution for varying mining operations including Lithium and Iron Ore.
- Review and plan projects with the Engineer Team to ensure technical aspects of each job are clear.
- Provide recommendations on equipment selection based on your assessments.
- Produce engineering deliverables including conveyor calculations, reports, and technical evaluations.
- Facilitate the development of drawings and design documentation.
- Provides a focal point for all technical based queries from the client or associated suppliers.
- Liaise with both in-house and external designers and detailers as required for the successful completion of each project.
- Provide guidance to Document Control for the project documentation and drawings control.

**Necessary skills and qualifications**:

- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years experience in a Senior Engineering role.
- Experience in using Helix or Sidewinder conveyor design software.
- Strong level of computer literacy (operating systems, Office products, engineering tools).
- Engineering and design experience with materials handling equipment including crushing, screening and conveying components.
