**The Role**
The Principal Approvals Governance will lead internal approvals and land access enabling work streams in collaboration with a creative and innovative team supporting continuous improvements to systems and processes. This includes oversight and ongoing development of the Land Activity Permit (LAP) process and leadership of the LAP management team, facilitating timely internal approvals in accordance with responsible and sustainable land use principles.
This role involves having strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will foster a culture of compliance and play a lead advocacy role in the development and implementation of strong approvals governance practices, collaborating closely across the business to deliver process improvements which support approvals forward planning.
For this position you will report directly to Manager Approvals Governance & Systems and you will be located our MinRes HQ office in Osborne Park, joining a dynamic and a high performing team.
**Key deliverables**:
- Leading business improvement projects that faciliate timely access to land, supporting effective collaboration between internal stakeholders, and driving improved compliance with obligations.
- Collaborate with key technical teams (IT, Spatial Services, approvals Product Team) to deliver a roadmap of process and technology improvements through the implementation of a comprehensive and fit-for-purpose Approvals Management System (AMS)
- Collaborate closely with strategic planning, project development and approvals delivery teams to develop and implement business processes to actively manage approvals risk, including identification, planning, tracking, and reporting of regulatory approvals/compliance activities.
- Lead the LAP Management team in the facilitation of timely and accurate land activity permits, supporting high-paced development and construction in line with approvals commitments.
- Collaborate with the Spatial Services team and data custodians across the business, to foster strong approvals and compliance data governance and accuracy through process and technology improvements.
- Contribute to the development of corporate policies, standards and procedures which support effective approvals management.
**What you’ll bring to the team**
- Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Cultural Heritage Management, Land Access or similar
- 10+ years in an approvals and regulatory compliance role within the resources or energy sector
- Demonstrates strong communication, interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills to influence internal stakeholders
- Uses initiative, demonstrates resilience and a continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Proven Project Management experience with large-scale projects
- Experience with development of business systems and solution design
- Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
- Strong GIS capabilities; ArcGIS Pro preferable.
- Proven experience in meeting deadlines and agility to achieve project directives
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite - particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills (Drafting scope of work etc.).
