The Bureau's Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program is leading a $230 million Australian Government initiative to improve flood warning infrastructure in Australia's highest flood risk areas over the next 10 years. This will be done through the acquisition, upgrade and integration of key local government-owned, and some state government-owned rain and river level flood gauges into its existing flood warning network across Australia.
The FWIN Program has a dedicated Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Team who is seeking an experienced Communications Advisor to deliver strategic, planned and human-focused communications that highlights the work and benefits of the FWIN Program to internal and external audiences.
The role reports to the FWIN Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and works closely with the Bureau's Communications Program to ensure alignment with the Bureau Strategy 2022-2027 and the Bureau's Communications Plan.
Our work has a significant impact on the lives of many Australians. This is a role where you will feel like you are making a direct contribution to the Australian community by keeping audiences informed and engaged about improvements to Australia's flood warning network.
This is a strategic communications role. You will have a strong strategic communications background with an in-depth understanding of adapting communication collateral for various platforms and channels. You will demonstrate resilience, attention to detail, ability to problem-solve, develop, and deliver effective communication and stakeholder engagement strategies.
The FWIN Program is a federal initiative working closely with local and state governments, you will have extensive experience working across all 3 levels of government and demonstrate a proven ability to negotiate outcomes, identify potential risks and issues, and meet competing deadlines.
Working in partnership with teams across the Bureau, you will have the ability to engage with all levels of the organisation to understand complex topics and make them accessible to diverse audiences. Your work will be underpinned by clear logic, considered thinking, and a solid evidence-base.
