Community and Stakeholder Advisor

Ward is a leading, independent civil & environmental engineering contractor with offices in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. We're excited to offer an opportunity for a Community and Stakeholder Advisor to play a pivotal role in shaping the design and delivery of communication and engagement strategies across our projects. This role will be instrumental in building strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and project partners, ensuring that environmental and social considerations are effectively integrated into project planning and execution.

The successful candidate will bring a passion for meaningful engagement, a strong understanding of environmental and community dynamics, and the ability to translate complex project information into clear, accessible communications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic communication and engagement to ensure timely community consultation in line with planning and legislative requirements.
  • Respond to and manage all community complaints and enquiries
  • Develop and implement Community Liaison Management plans
  • Conduct research and local area analysis to inform engagement planning and deepen understanding of the stakeholder landscape
  • Monitor stakeholders, identify communication risks, and implement strategies to manage issues and minimise project impact
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support effective communication and project outcomes
  • Provide advice to relevant stakeholders on project-specific communications and engagement opportunities, risks and issues
  • Develop and maintain HSEQ documentation for community engagement, including risk registers, assessments, toolbox talks, and collaboration on environmental impacts such as noise and vibration
  • Design, deliver, and tailor community engagement training for staff, including induction content and audience-specific materials
  • Assist with tender submissions, social media content, and marketing collateral
  • Prepare engaging, high-quality communications including notifications, newsletters, presentations, key messages, enquiry responses, and other materials for diverse audiences

About You

  • Qualification in Communications, Media, Culture, or a related field
  • Similar experience in community or stakeholder engagement within the civil construction industry preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable using MS Office
