Look no further The Liverpool City Council Communications team is seeking a vibrant Communications Coordinator to provide crucial support during a one-year maternity leave contract. This role also holds the possibility of leading to full-time opportunities within our accomplished team.**

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for high-level strategic communications advice to protect and enhance the standing of Council as well as assisting to lead the day-to-day operations of the Communications Team.

This role will support the Manager Communications to lead the development and implementation of Council’s communications strategy, including internal and external communications and media management.

**You will **be responsible for**:

- Directing, leading, mentoring and inspiring a team.
- Setting the day-to-day agenda of communications staff and prioritising key actions.
- Coordinating the production of high-quality social media content that appropriately reflects the work and achievements of Council.
- Attending after hours Council meetings or events during evenings and weekends as required and being on-call as needed for out-of-hours media-related enquiries.

**ABOUT YOU**

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their competency in the following essential areas:

- Communications degree or similar (e.g. Arts degree, Public Relations diploma), or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven success in the delivery and management of effective communications strategies.
- Proven experience in leading or coordinating a team.
- Extensive experience in communication, media relations and issues management.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability to work in an environment with constantly changing priorities and multiple internal demands.
- Preferred experience, though not mandatory: Engage in internal communications and navigate platforms like MailChimp or similar tools.
- A can-do attitude and the ability to show initiative and ownership over projects that come your way.
