Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to oversee the project planning, delivery and implementation of a range of community projects related to successful State and National grants which aim to support people with low vision and blindness live a life without limits.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the Manager, Project Management Office and works closely with the Client and Vision Services team. The Project Officer role reports into this position.
Position Responsibilities
Project Management
Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the Information Linkages Capacity (ILC) grant for Guide Dogs Australia, coordinating the implementation of a national peer connected community within the grant parameters.
Develop and implement a national network which creates opportunities for people with blindness and low vision to participate in community life, with a focus on arts, culture, sport, and recreation as part of the ILC grant terms.
Where required, travel to regional hubs or to other Guide Dog states as part of the collaboration and consultation process for the ILC grant implementation.
Plan and implement other community projects such as the Mental Health Grant and City of Melbourne Grant (and other grants as they are successful).
Engage and communicate collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, communities and people with lived experience to develop project plans and to co-design and implement an inclusive project plan to deliver on the grant terms.
Where practicable, ensure the workforce requirements of the project are arranged to maximise meaningful employment opportunities for people with a disability.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project requirement documents, master project plan, risk register and budget, monthly reports, and ongoing grant acquittal to document project needs and timeframes.
Ensure that project outcomes are delivered on-time, within budget and within scope of grant terms.
Coordinate internal and external resources where required to facilitate project outcomes and activities.
Promote and communicate project progress and outcomes across the organisation, as required.
Work in collaboration with the People and Culture team where change management is required as part of the project plan.
Social and Community Participation
Co-design inclusive practices to create opportunities for people with low vision or blindness and their carers to engage and participate in peer support groups and initiatives.
Co-design resources specific to peer leaders and people with low vision and blindness.
Develop and facilitate effective relationships with peer leaders and groups.
Work with people with low vision or blindness as peer leaders and partners to improve participation and community life, especially for young people, seniors, people who live regionally, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
Support capacity building to enable peer leadership and peer groups and networks to be self-sustaining beyond the life of the project.
Team Management
Provide leadership to establish and promote organisational values.
Model commitment to building a learning culture.
Build capabilities and skills within the team to develop and maintain required workforce capabilities to create career pathways.
Create and promote opportunities for people from diverse identity and cultural backgrounds, particularly people with lived experience
Provide people leadership for the team within area of responsibility, including recruitment, induction, supervision, coaching, recognition and performance management.
Manage team dynamics within area of responsibility and support productive working relationships within the team and with other work groups.
Encourage the team to show initiative and look for ways to continuously improve.
Position Administration
Actively participate in the development and implementation of departmental objectives and complete other duties when requested to ensure their achievement.
Engage with and learn from people with lived experience as colleagues, experts and advisers.
Support and reinforce a culture that is interested in, responsive to and supportive of diversity and inclusion.
Direct and supervise any volunteers within area of control, ensuring adherence to safe work practices at all times.
