**Who we are**

The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

The Parks Support Services Branch provides business support services for Parks Australia including, customer experience and destination planning, assurance governance and risk, strategic policy coordination, Indigenous employment pathways, finance, human resources, health safety and wellbeing, legal services, procurement, property, security and IT.

Director of National Parks Governance and Assurance Team lead the development and maintenance of effective and fit for purpose governance arrangements including risk management, business governance, probity, internal audits, and business improvement planning.

**The Job**

The main duties of this position will include:

- Facilitate and participate in risk management workshops, including the consolidation of workshop outcomes and recommendations, with business areas.
- Manage and maintain the Risk Management and Fraud and Corruption Control SharePoint, including the DNP Risk Management Framework, Fraud and Corruption Control Plan and supporting guidance materials and tools.
- Manage the continual monitoring and actioning of enquiries when required in the Risk Management Inbox.
- Develop risk-related reporting mechanisms to identify potential control vulnerabilities, trends and root causes and consolidate and maintain findings to inform decision-making.
- Provide risk management advice, analytics and insights to key stakeholder groups, including the preparation and delivery of written, visual and verbal reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across the portfolio including participating in committees and forums about risk management.
- Develop briefings, and papers, and prepare and assist with written correspondence and briefing material.
- Promote and provide advice, guidance and engage directly with business areas in understanding Risk Culture and its benefits.

As an APS 6 Risk Management Officer you will be required to demonstrate a range of skills, however the specific competencies below are considered critical to success within this role:

**Desirable Qualifications**

Qualifications in risk management or a related discipline (advantageous but not essential)
